Universal matrix bands are used in restorative dentistry as a temporary artificial wall to contain filling materials (like composite or amalgam) during cavity repairs. They recreate the tooth's anatomical shape and prevent overhanging filling edges

Main Features & Benefits

Class II Restorations: Specifically designed for posterior teeth (molars and premolars) when filling cavities that extend to the sides or between teeth (proximal surfaces).

Shape & Contouring: They help form and support the filling material to perfectly replicate the tooth's natural contour.

Contact Areas: When secured with a dental wedge, the band ensures a tight contact point with the adjacent tooth, preventing food impaction.

Material Containment: They act much like a formwork in construction, keeping the soft filling material in place until it hardens or is light-cured.
